Sadiq Khan has launched an attack on Hillingdon's Green Belt. The Mayor's draft London Plan would force more Green Belt development on Hillingdon than anywhere else in London.
His plan demands more than 24,000 new homes in our borough over the next decade, with 61% expected to be built on green spaces. No other London borough is being asked to sacrifice more of its Green Belt.
Let's be clear. We need more homes for Hillingdon people, but not at the expense of the open spaces that make Hillingdon special. Once our Green Belt is built on, it is gone forever.
These proposals would pile pressure on our roads, schools, GP surgeries and local services, while ignoring the enormous uncertainty surrounding Heathrow expansion. That's simply not good planning.
As your Conservative Council, we have a different approach.
Our Growth Plan prioritises brownfield land first, protects the Green Belt wherever possible and ensures new development is backed by the infrastructure our communities need. We believe planning decisions should reflect local circumstances, not arbitrary targets imposed from Sadiq Khan at his desk in City Hall.
This is another clear choice.
While Labour's Mayor wants to concrete over Hillingdon, your Conservative Council is standing up for our borough, protecting our Green Belt and putting residents first.
We will be making the strongest possible case against these proposals to concrete over our Green Belt during the consultation, but we also need your support. You can sign our petition below.
